‘Security seals’, whose body and lock system are made of plastic, are called plastic seals. Plastic security seals indicate to the user that a breach has occurred, with traces of tampering, if the sealed product or load has been tampered with. When an undesired intervention occurs on the seal, there is a permanent deterioration in the seal structure and the integrity of the seal cannot be restored.
Some models of plastic security seals have metal components added to the locking mechanism for added security. These metals placed inside increase the resistance shown against destruction of the seal by creating resistance against tampering.
Plastic security seals protect the integrity of the seal by resisting tampering, do not allow any component of the used seal to be replaced with a seal of similar design, cannot be regenerated, and leave visible evidence of any attempt to open the seal once a correct seal has been achieved in the field of application.
Plastic Seal Types
Plastic security seals are generally produced in two types. These are plastic seals with adjustable length and fixed length.
Adjustable length plastic seals can be used in many applications, from securing the neck of a bag or mailbag to sealing chemical drums, first aid kits, fashion items sold online for wear before return, fire extinguishers, car fuel tanks and any tamper-evident objects.
Adjustable length tightened plastic seals are a disposable, tamper evident security seal that restricts access to closed objects for those without access.
Strap seals are in the category of adjustable-length plastic seals and are the most widely produced type of security seal. It has a wide range of designs. It is generally produced from polypropylene (PP). It has many applications such as airline and food service carts, fuel tankers, oil tankers, trailer doors, container doors, cash carrier, gaming machines, mail bags, fire doors, lockers, evidence boxes.
In belt seals , a stainless steel clip is usually placed inside the body, thus providing high security.
There are also specially designed self-locking strap seals that provide sealing by interlocking the locking tabs on the locking mechanism and seal bar without placing clips inside the body.
Some strap seals have the possibility to open the seal manually without the need for tools.
Another example of adjustable length plastic seals is beadlock plastic seals.
Beadlock plastic seals are security seals that consist of a lock and a locking bead section. In such security seals, the seal body is usually produced from polypropylene (PP) or polyamide (PA) material, while the inner part that performs the locking is made of polyacetal (POM) material. Beadlock seal is preferred in various application areas because its body has high elasticity and is resistant to breaking.
Bead Lock Plastic seals; It is used in areas such as warehouse doors, postal and courier businesses, banks, markets, marketing companies, distribution/transport companies, fuel tankers, silos.
Fixed length plastic seals,
The seal design features a strong single point locking mechanism and an indicator that protrudes through a hole in the bottom of the locking head, indicating that the seal is properly locked. The seal also has a breakpoint for easy tool-free removal; makes this seal suitable for most applications. It has uses such as airline cars and cargo, trailers, containers, rail cars, refineries, chemical plants, grain elevators, fire doors, lockers, evidence boxes.
Fixed distance plastic seals are available in different designs .
Padlock seals often have the appearance of a standard all-plastic padlock seal. They can technically be classified as fixed-length security seals. The main use of this category of plastic security seal is tamper-proofing of airline food carts and duty-free carts.
To add an extra layer of security, most security plastic seals have the company logo or text, the unique serial number or serial numbers, and the associated barcodes printed on the product using a variety of marking methods. With the information such as lot number, serial number, barcode written on the seal, it provides the opportunity to easily detect and intervene in the product type that has a problem.
Plastic security seals are not used for the physical protection of the sealed object, but are used to identify intervention attempts. For this reason, they are used as a deterrent against theft.
